In business, setbacks and challenges are sometimes inevitable. When a tenant faces an issue, we act quickly to implement corrective measures within our control. We see these moments as opportunities to provide support and turn difficulties into positive outcomes. We refer to this approach as "Writing the Last Chapter." This commitment underscores our dedication to standing by our tenants and doing everything possible to ensure their success.
Our operations team recently had the opportunity to support an employee from one of our properties in San Antonio, TX, during a particularly challenging time. After finishing his workday, the employee returned to the parking lot only to discover that his car had been stolen. This incident was unfortunately part of the Kia Challenge, a troubling TikTok trend that has led to a spike in car thefts across the country.
Although the police were able to locate the car in a different downtown parking lot, it had suffered some damage. We could see how distressing this situation was for the employee, especially since his car was essential for his daily commute.
Determined to help, our team quickly stepped in to ease his burden. We covered the out-of-pocket expenses he faced while renting a replacement vehicle through his insurance claim. We also provided him with a Club Steering Wheel Lock to boost his future vehicle security.
To bring a smile to his face during this tough time, we gifted him a personalized T-shirt with the playful slogan, “I survived the Kia Challenge and all I have to show for it is this stupid shirt.” This small gesture was our way of showing empathy and helping him find a bit of humor amidst the adversity.
By taking these steps, we aimed not only to address the immediate impact of the incident but also to offer emotional support and solidarity. Our hope was to transform this distressing experience into one of camaraderie. We wanted to ensure that he could look back on this experience with a positive feeling, knowing that he was valued and supported, and that we are on his side.
